you only use the software to manipulate data / settings. You also have to use CalMan or other software to do measurements.
Many softwares are like this, many years ago I used to use 2 laptops, one to talk to the display and the other for performing measurements. Over time I got comfortable enough to only use 1 laptop. (also depends on other factors like your screen size and resolution).
