The differens between JVC and Sony projectors, is that the Sony’s keep degrading (lifted blacks), whilst the JVC’s have a moderate gamma drop within the first 10-40 hours, that doesn’t effect black level (measure same on/off contrast). When the Sony projector degrades below 2000:1 contrast, it is no longer possible to calibrate gamma (Sony pro calibration software).
The Sony projectors degrading is different from unit to unit. The units thats been exposed to damp environment also degrade mush faster
