Someone suggested to me using a DVD disc that has all the signal generators on it. He says it’s a good idea because it calibrates from the player itself. He also says if I carry around a good DVD player with the disc, it is an inexpensive signal generator. Not sure if it is available for bluray.. but either way, is this method ok in your opinions?
Considering what the output of various Blu-Ray Players – and often far worse – DVD Players, look like, you still have no reference to know what is correct. How does he know that the DVD player he is carrying around has a correct output? Also, considering the the fragile nature of a disc driven player, that just doesn’t sound very smart at all.
Bottom line, you need to have a reference signal generator and adjust the TV before you can move on to adjusting the output of a Blu-Ray or DVD player.
As Michael stated earlier, “it costs something to play the game.”
