They may default to it, but you can still change them to 76 or 94 or whatever you want.
In some of these cases … just use your eyes to see if you can see a difference between what 94 gives you and what 2000 does. Beyond human perception is still beyond human perception. They didn’t redefine that. Or I missed that memo where all the humans got that upgrade except me. 🙂
There is a move on the academic side to try to get SMPTE to modify the HDTV specs as they currently exist to account for all the different display technologies that exist today versus the CRT that existed in the mid 1980’s when they settled on the HDTV spec. Until things actually get adopted … nothing is going to change. It may be like that best gamma number thing all over again.
The V5 flow that I am working on is still using the base 76 for grayscale and 94 for color. The end user always has the option to adjust those. The V5 program has some bugs so don’t be in too much of a hurry to leap over there.
