Re: Calman V5 THX Workflows/Reports
Further to this … if on most TVs today, you are getting a dE of around 1.5 across the board … then it doesn’t matter which dE formula you used. The 94 is supposed to be 28% better than 76 (?) … and 2000 is 11% better than 94. But when you look at dE numbers in the 1.5 range, even a variance of 28% one way or another is still well below the 3 threshold. It still won’t matter and you still won’t see it regardless of which method you use.
The place where it might matter is when you have tvs that don’t behave nicely … particularly the older stuff or crappy stuff. Then the “better” dE stuff might matter. But then it might not because I can point to almost every instance where the TV controls are either incomplete or broken where the dE says it is correct and the best thing to do, but the image is just plain bad looking. When controls don’t work right, you use your best judgement and don’t let the dE method sway you.
