I have done this in the past when I’ve encountered info from SMPTE that I thought would benefit this community. However, in most cases the info is too substantial to just post quotations from technical articles. Usually, I’ll refer folks to the document available from the SMPTE store. The documents are discounted to SMPTE members. There are also online video presentations available to members at no charge. SMPTE is a non-profit trade association which gets its operating funds from donations, ad revenue, membership fees, and the sale of technical documents generated by its standards committees and individual authors.
