Hello John and welcome to the THX forum if no one has welcomed you as yet! Let’s see, pretty basic stuff:
C5-2.JPG When and How to use this??

Ok, this is your official C5 holder or offical C5 soda can coffee table protection while doing jobs! 😀 Use this to put your C5 into while preparing to use it for calibration. The bottom is covered in felt so you don’t scratch a clients table while preparing your C5 and or holding your soda can (I am joking about the soda can thing).

This is your counter-weight for the C5 if you have the pigtail draped over the back of the TV so it doesn’t fall forward. However, the pigtail really isn’t long enough in my opinion to use it like this, so I keep mine somewhere…not sure where :p

This one is important, and attaches to the front of the probe. The felt is on there so it does not scratch the clients TV face. If you use the tripod mount…I always do…the tripod mount goes in between this piece the probe itself. Also, I would never, never, never…how many never’s should we use…never use the suction cup mount to stick to a TV. One, the probe will fall almost every time unless you lick it which leaves kind of a nasty mess on a clinet’s TV, and if you stick it on a LCD…the client might not be happy with you once you take it off. Don’t even try it. 😮

Explained above. Attaches to the probe.

You will likely never use this. This is the diffusor. This is the only time where you would use the suction cup front attachment since the diffusor attaches to the cups. This is used only if you are taking direct readings from a light source such as the output end of a projector. Since we are also compensating for screen shifts in color, we almost never calibrate from the front end of a PJ. You may want to do some actual testing of a PJ in the future without screen effects, and this is when you would use it in my opinion. Some may use it for other reasons.
Hope these answered your questions. What you really need out of this is the probe, the felt front end attachment and the tripod mount. The rest, well, I keep it around just in case. Good luck! 🙂
