I was always under the impression that THX specifies no more than 36 degree viewing angle with the rear row of not less than 26 degrees. SMPTE recommends an angle of 30 degrees. Also, I believe it to be around 12-15 degrees below horizon for the first row (eye level). In a perfect world anyway. Doesn’t always work out that way.
