I have a 1st generation WD TV HD Media Player (WDAVN00) (Newegg for $60) for pattern generator and am wondering if I should update firmware or not? What is the best firmware version to have?

The current one works with the test patterns … but in the future it may be prudent to just leave it alone once it works. keep it only for generator duties and nothing else.

if you want to do more with it …. buy another one for that.

Could someone that has a properly working 1st gen WD media player (used as a test pattern generator) go into the system folder, press about and tell me the version number? Thanks:) I have firmware version 1.02.07. There is an older one (1.01) and there is a newer one (1.03).
