Some 2014 4K LED LCDs coming out soon will have a BG (Blue-Green) LED backlights. Here is the spectral response of one of the TVs that I measured with a Jeti spectro.

As you can see it has much more red energy than a typical White LED backlight. I can’t reveal which TV model it is until the NDA ends.

This might create more calibration business, as all consumer color meters don’t have tables for BG LED yet.

???? Why is the backlight called blue-green when there is clearly red light (as there would have to be) in the emission spectrum? Are they creating red light with the green or blue (or both) LEDs by flickering them into some other mode that causes them to change color like multi-color LEDs that can change to any primary or complimentary color?

Both the Blue and the Green LED are doped with phosphor to create the red spectral energy.
