I currently have an i1Pro, just wondering what the new C6 (spectracal.com/c6) will offer me and if it would be a good investment or if I should just stick with the i1Pro?

    Hi Michael,

I used a C5 (not a C6) for quite a while and the main advantages of having a unit like that are its speed and improved low-light accuracy over the i1Pro. Once a colorimeter like the C6 is profiled against the i1Pro, it becomes nearly as accurate as the i1Pro but has those the two important advantages I mentioned.

I haven’t seen specifications yet, but if the C6 is anything like the the C5 I’m guessing this will be a great little meter for the price.

    Best,
    Greg

Just make sure you double check the display following a calibration session with a profiled meter. Sometimes the profiling does not work out right. It ain’t fool proof.

Any thoughts on the new i1 Display Pro III compared to the C5 Pro?

A bit early to tell conclusively yet as the OEM meters have not been received by their respective partners (ChromaPure or Spectracal) yet. They are due to start arriving within the week I understand. The ones used for testing so far are beta products.

But after saying that, I have seen the i1Display Pro retail product (can not be used for either ChromaPure or Spectracal), and the measuring window is a lot bigger when compared to the Chroma5, which will allow more light to the sensors, and thus give more consistent readings in darker shades of grayscale. It is also designed with non contact in mind, which may help 3D calibration. I am sure there will be alot more feedback coming to light as the month draws to the end, and the meters start to ship out to customers.
