    Hello Guys.
It seems as if JVC Projectors of the latest series do have a Problem with a Gamma-Drop and eventually also with a shifting Gamut.

The changes in Picture Qualtity mentioned above appear obviosly even when the Projector is not being used – over months or just weeks.

If anyone of you has made similar experiences with These Products – please post them here.

As far as I could test it- The lowered Gamma can be corrected via AutoCal with JVCs Projector Calibration Software.

    Greetings
    TEX

I have not seen this after doing a touch up on a RS500. There was almost no drift of any kind after 700 hours or so. Could this be a European model issue, if there is a difference?

Usually there is a gamma drop (mid section) at about 100 hour. After that, the gamma is stable for hundreds of hours

Thanks guys for you comments and shared experience. Further Investigations have come to the result, that there is a Gamma Drop within the first months after production of the unit, no matter if it was used or not.
This can be corrected via Autocal. After this the Units seem to be stable indeed!
The Company that came up with theses “breaking News” was german “precalibration” Company Cine 4 Home.
I can just suggest to be cautious with any Kind of Information of this source, as These “News” seem to be pure “attention-whore-beaviour”….

The also statet shift of the native gamut is also something that I cannot confirm till now.

    Greetings
    TEX

    hi guys
I have also heard of this on Sony’s too.
I redid 2 400s last week (1 year check ups). the first unit had went from gamma 2.4 to 2.1 (with the 2.6 preset)….i did the auto cal and got it back in shape.
The 2nd unit was about the same as it was last year. Weird.

The differens between JVC and Sony projectors, is that the Sony’s keep degrading (lifted blacks), whilst the JVC’s have a moderate gamma drop within the first 10-40 hours, that doesn’t effect black level (measure same on/off contrast). When the Sony projector degrades below 2000:1 contrast, it is no longer possible to calibrate gamma (Sony pro calibration software).
The Sony projectors degrading is different from unit to unit. The units thats been exposed to damp environment also degrade mush faster
