no warm temp greyscale adjustment

The unit is a Panasonic TC-P50v10. When in the SM adjusting cuts/drvs the following happens.
1. When adjusting cuts/drvs while in HD and warm temp I can see the values change in the menu and if I take a greyscale reading I can see changes. When I exit the SM and try to run an adjusted greyscale nothing changes. My RGB values are the same as before I changed values in the SM.
2. WHen performing the same procedure in NORMAL temp mode everything works fine.
3. When adjusting w/b values in custom mode using the PRO settings in the user menu and warm temp mode everything works fine.
4. I can change the rgb values in the SM while in warm temp from min to max and take a reading outside of the SM and no change whatsoever. This only happens in warm temp mode.

This is my own personal set. It is a new prob. The set was purchased in June of this year. I have not adjusted anything else in the SM other than the cuts/drvs. Any help would be appreciated.

There is something called WB method … listed on the wb screen. Likely says 3 … make it 0 … follow the instructions. Now it should stick outside the sm too.

In WB method 3 … you have to press enter to save your change to each value. The number changes color when you press enter.

not a repair question. I will move this to the panasonic plasma section in the SM codes.

Thanks Michael. WB Method was set to 01 in all temp modes. I only have a prob when in warm mode. The values stick in the service menu but I visually see no change on the rgb levels when running greyscale.
I will change wb method to 00 and see what happens.

no luck with wb method set at 00. works the same as 01 as far as I can tell but obviously there must be a difference. ANyway I still cannot adjust greyscale while in warm temp in the SM

Hi Gregg. THis is a prob that only exists when setting temp to warm. I can change, adjust, save and take a nap in all the other combination of pic modes and temps.
I will try using enter but it is not required to make anything else stick. The values do stick by the way I just don’t see a change in the rgb levels.

There are two Warm color temperature presets, Warm 1 and Warm 2 in the user menu. I always use the Warm 2 preset and the warm adjustment in the service menu works just fine.

i just did one of the 54 Inchers.

the service mode gave me Warm 1, but the THX Mode is warm 2. Not a big deal….i had to do a couple of in and out of service mode measurements and then got the THX Warm 2 color temp down to less than 1 delta E.

My problem is not a procedural problem or operator error. I have calibrated each mode of this display and using warm temp worked. For some reason all of a sudden warm temp changes won’t take. Cool and normal temp modes will adjust just fine. I am going ot use my warranty and put in a call to panasonic to fix it.
If I go to normal temp and calibrate my greyscale to bring my rgb levels to 100 then color temp ends up at 6500 then i just made normal into warm. SO how do you calibrate a display in normal or cool temp setting and not turn it into warm? For instance SPORTS mode is usually cooler temp which if calibraed correctly negates its purpose.

you target 9300K for Cool and 7500 ish for Normal.

Just because sports mode targets 9300 does not make it right. Someone just decided that in marketing.

I like to make as many of the color temp choices the same. Cool, normal, warm … make em all the same …

you can have any color so long as it is black.

This way, people using reset on vivid mode still end up with the right color temp … and have that added brightness needed for day time viewing. Wen things like gamma don’t matter as much.

Called Panasonic to put in a trouble call to fix my SM and they told me by going into the SM I voided the warranty. I told them I was a certified calibrator but they said only authorized panasonic techs can go into the SM. SO this means that everyone who has had a calibration has voided their warranty. Anyone ever had a similar incident? Are the other manufacturers singing the same song?

Don, I seriously do not think there is anything wrong with your display.

There is nothing that a manufacturer will do for you relating to warranty if the display is showing an “adequate” image.

Generally speaking, I suggest that none of my clients ever mention accessing the service mode on a display. While doing this does not invalidate the warranty it does give the manufacturer a stool to say “you did it to yourself, so the warranty is now invalid”.

Just strange. I’ve done a whole lot of G series and V series and S units and and the grayscale worked on all the sets.
