Yes, this is annoying, but hope some of this helps.

Seems the Jeti has issues reading bright patterns off plasma TVs. The readings either take an unusual length of time or causes the program to lock up. Here are some solutions …

In both the THX CP program and now the Calman 4.2.2 program (build 232), if you are using a Jeti, you will have to tell the program what type of display you are using. Spec60 on the CP program and Plasma 60 on Calman.

But the goodness does not quite end there though. 🙁 Setting it for 60 does not always guarantee that this is the best choice. If you have it set for 60 and still find it locking up or taking too long to take a reading of 100% … then try setting the probe to just Spec … (not spec60 or spec50) and it might work better.

Also watch out for repeatability issues at the same bright end. If you are having a lot of variation, then try the other setting. You won’t know until you try it.

Some Field Data … LG plasma … 2010 model … spec 60 setting does not work right … try spec …

Samsung Plasma 2009 model … spec does not work … but spec 60 works and results are repeatable.

    Regards

If you are having read issues … then go back to the stock Jeti program that came with the device. It works without glitches on all displays. IT will get the job done, but there will not be any pretty graphs with it.

Current Calman Beta 4.3 build 250 still has some issues with this probe as of July 3 … Stay tuned.

Out of curiousity, is this problem fixed with Calman and the 1211 or is it still there on the newer builds of Calman.

current build 267 and latest firmware on jeti solve all known issues … for now.

That is what derek has said …

ChromaPure’s latest version (2.2.7) resolves all read issues using the JETI 1211 with all display types.

The problem was that the 1211 is so sensitive that readings would be affected by the cycle rate of the display. Surprisingly, the cycle rate of a display is not as simple as 60 for NTSC and 50 for PAL. Many displays have very strange cycle rates, which are determined, in many cases, by the backlighting technology. Once the software has detected this value and synchronized readings to it, there is no problem. Without this, repeatability could be a serious problem.
