Does anyone have any opinions on the performance of the Nuvision Lucidium TVs? Also, does anyone know how much control they allow for? (ie. cuts, drives, level of CMS, etc.)

    Thanks

no idea from me on this one…perhaps Michael, Adam, or another with experience with this line can assist.

A quick call to the sales rep will tell you.

i got this from 313329…i think the poster works for Nuvision.
Looks like the line is very calibratible.

NuVision LCD DV NVX-xxNDUP – Service Access
    Menu,8,5,2,0 – set option 1 & 2 to 37
Press menu while at TOP of menu item list to switch between pages

This service menu has a number of useful settings: you can cal black, white, and color levels so that 50 is correct for customer, adjust volume settings so that max doesn’t blow the speakers, white bal with deltas for the 2 other color temps (black & white D55, for warm for example), set day/night mode delta.

Set calibrated nicely, excellant white balance, 2.38 gamma, 28fL peak light output. Some luma uniformity issues, not casually visable. Gamut short on green. Breeze to work in!

Yea, the rep tells my that I can tweak “everything”. My biggest question was the level of CMS. I almost died when I was calibrating a JVC HD-ILD and only had one set of RGB controls and no CMS. With other forum’s information being spotty at best I turn here. 🙂

    Thanks

Nice sets, when you can actually get your hands on one. They have had some serious supply issues. But yes, they calibrate well. Company was setup to be Cedia installer friendly, so they have good control options, and deep menus. My clients and employees have all been very pleased with them,

Tom Norton’s review of a Lucidium in Home Theater magazine made them look terrible – it got worse and worse as the screen got brigher and he said there was no control anywhere that made the panel better. And by worse, I mean WAY out of control. No experience with them personally, but if they really are as described and measured by TN, they are among the worst displays out there. The MSRPs are pretty steep — you’d expect much better than TN measured.

I wonder if their supply issues have forced them to have panels made elsewhere? The few I worked on about a year ago were considerably better than the review made them look.
