    Hi guys,

I am going to be calibrating a Panasonic TH58PZ800U this Friday and wondered if there was anything special I should know about? Do I need a code to get into the THX mode? Are there any do’s and don’ts?

    Thank you,
    Josh

    Hello Josh,

No, no special code to get into THX. It should be in the presets. Calibrate only in the THX mode. The gamma curve in the other modes is pathetic at best. No CMS, the THX mode should have a more correct color gamut…but it isn’t perfect. Make sure you change the mode to Cinema in the service menu each time you enter it. It will always default to vivid from my experience. Exit the service mode by turning off the TV, then turn it back on to check your measurments. Panasonics can be a pain to calibrate…especially the higher IRE’s. Watch for color shifting in the higher IRE’s as well. Good luck!

remember to press enter to save all your changes in the service mode. or else they only stay in the service mode and do not reflect back into the user mode.

The calibration was bumped out to a later date. Thank you for your help, I will let you know how it goes.
