Hi, I recently calibrated a Pioneer 500A TV. I got brilliant results as you would expect with this model. However, when I put in the THX calibrator’s disc into the client’s Pioneer BDP-LX08 Blu-ray player (passing through his Yamaha RX-V1900 receiver) that there was no whiter than white or blacker than black info. I went through all the settings on the player that I could imagine and nothing rectified this. What am I missing here as the TV displayed all my patterns correctly from my Sencore VP403c signal generator? I have since read that there are further video processing functions hidden in the BDL-LX08 which are only accessible when a disc is playing, including a ‘Professional’ mode which apparently leaves the signal untouched. Could this be the problem? I also understand that the Yamaha receivers used to clip the HDMI signal. On the other hand apparently this issue was rectified with the RX-V1900 model. Any help would be really useful as I need to get back to the client on this. As it happens he loves the calibrated picture, so is he really missing a great deal?!
