    Hi guys
ControlCal is offering all THX Class attendees the special price of $150 for this bundle. Regular pricing is about $195. You can not do a gray scale calibration on a Non Elite Kuro without this software as Pioneer has removed the adjustment parameters in the service menu.
We can discuss the software in this thread.

Definitely a nice piece of software.
I just used it this past Friday to calibrate day and night modes for a 9G Elite.
The ability for 9 point gamma adjustment was nice.

Do you need a computer with serial connections to do this? Is the serial connection on the sets accessible when they are on a wall mount? Does the software give you access to primary and secondary color point adjustments on both sets?
    Thanks!

you need a computer with serial, or a serial to USB adapter. Ive never not been able to access a port (out of 100 plus Elite jobs). There is no proper color management on any Pioneer set. On the non elite Pioneers you can not even set the gray scale without this software.

The profiles do not work on the Elite 141 series of sets. A new profile will be needed to work on these units. Shawn says he is working on it now. Another $50 please.

Based on your Comment; “There is no proper color management on any Pioneer set. On the non elite Pioneers you can not even set the gray scale without this software”.

Am I to understand that there “IS” proper color management and gray scale available when you are using this software?

    Thanks

There is proper grayscale adjustments using the ControlCal software. There is still no proper CMS regardless of whether you use the software or not. Pioneers simply provide 6 controls vs the full 18.

Stephen has it there … no proper CMS at all … with or without the C3. the grayscale is pretty much the same inside and outside the C3.

When you get dE of less than one across the board in the user settings for grayscale … there isn’t much left to be said that the C3 is somehow more accurate.

I’m considering purchasing the software. How far “back” does the ability to calibrate 9 points go? Is that something only on the new 9G series, or will 8G do it as well? Just wondering how much mileage I can get from the purchase. Also, does it come with any documentation to use? Thanks!

The control cal does 9 point on both 8 and 9 gen … but you have to buy the modules separately for each gen.

    regards
