Hi. I’m booked to calibrate two Pioneer PDP-LX5090s next Tuesday. However, I’ve not had the pleasure of working with this TV before. So, I’m wondering if you can give me some advice on what to look out for? I do understand that the CMS doesn’t work properly so I should avoid that and use the basic color/tint controls. What about ISF Day/Night modes? Can these be accessed? I am using Chromapure Pro but I heard that there is something called Control Cal which can be used for this TV? Basically, any advice is much appreciated! Thanks.

you will use color and tint (most likely tint won’t be changed)… Most Calibrators avoid the CMS but several Calibrators who actually own a 9G Pioneer with ISFccc will usually make some minor adjustments with Pioneer’s CMS including using in the field when necessary.. probably it’s best for you to avoid it but if do make adjustments, do not adjust more than 2 clicks in any direction.

ISFccc can be activated and adjusted… ControlCAL does work with ChromaPure as well.

Thanks Shawn. I’m not sure what Control Cal really is nor how it would work in conjunction with ChromaPure. Could you elaborate?

    Thanks again

ControlCAL is used to activate and adjust the LX Model’s ISFccc Interface via the Display’s Serial Port, it can run side by side/same time with CP, CM, other Calibration software. Info/screen shots Here.. email me at turbe@ControlCAL.com for Licensing info.

For information on Pioneer’s 9G ISFccc Interface, see the link in my Signature below…

    Julian,

ControlCal is used to activate the ISF modes on the Pioneers and has a separate interface that has all the controls necessary plus 9point gamma that is not available in the other modes. Its a fantastic piece of software and negates the use of the remote control as well as allowing access to the ISF modes. Since its a standalone software for controls, u would use it in conjuction with Calman/CP for readings and adjustments in ControlCal.

I hv been using it for almost 3yrs now for both my displays and client’s displays. I believe it now also supports Panasonic displays (pls check with Shawn for licensing).
