I’ve always wondered for example what is better.

Plug signal Generator into TV? or into Receiver which then goes to TV?

Or like with my cable box it can view photos from a network. So I would pull up patterns from a shared folder that are 1080P and calibrate that way. Just wondering if direct from source (cable box) is better than Signal Generator to TV. (didn’t know if the cable box has a different video output settings that would be different than the Generator that might throw it off, Kinda like how PC’s have different video cards/settings.) Or in similar fashion if I wanted to calibrate a Wii/Xbox/Playstation/Etc do I just use a DVD/View Photos from the source and not the Generator to the TV?

    hi michael
Always start at the display and work backwards by connecting the signal generator first. Then each device and have them match the signal generator.
All HDMI sources should match the signal generator (that are not generated by a PC).

if the device (cable box/xbox) has no RGB/Brightness/Contrast settings how do I match the signal Generator? or do you mean start with a good source and then tweak the TV if needed from there from a pattern on the device?

HDMI sources should all match. Consider rgb / 422, HDMI limited vs extended, etc.
