Need some help with those who may have dealt with this in the past. Ok, DirecTV came over yesterday as one of the receivers got fried by a lightning strike or something. Anyway, he looked at the setup outside and said it was hooked up and mounted all wrong. So, he proceeded to tear it all down and rewire and mount everything at no cost to me thankfully. So, I come down tonight (first time I get to watch the telly), and I notice the loud hum during quiet periods. Figured it was likely the “new” satellite setup and unplugged the incoming cables from the DVR. Sure nuff, buzz goes away. So, I was looking at isolation transformers, but I am seeing issues with high bandwidth signal blockage. What I need to know is if anyone has dealt with this problem with a high def signal via 75 ohm connector and found an isolator that has elimated most if not all the hum without signal degradation…and no…the satellite box does not have a three prong plug. The interference is 99% likely coming from an improperly grounded satellite and coming over the coaxial cables into the system…and no…I don’t have a plug on a seperate breaker that I could plug it into anywhere near. I just need to know if anyone has used a good 75 ohm isolator before and what brand it was.

    Thanks!

i had the same problem, i even routed the ground wire from the grounding block to the ground bus inside the panel
i purchased this http://www.axiomaudio.com/groundisolator.html and it solved the problem
i have an HD PVR which requires high bandwidth & bi-directional signals
