    I just recieved the notice about the THX Blu-Ray discs for people who take the calibration classes. Looks pretty awesome! How can those of us who are already certified get a copy?

    I was under the impression these would be given to past attendees once available?

    It appears you have to ask them for it … or else you get none. The non-practicing attendees would have no use for it.

    word from THX: Everybody will be sent a disc. This process might take up to 2 months to complete (all THX students will be receiving…this will be around 2000K people).

    Gregg, so that means we don’t need to email THX to get our disc?

    Squeeky wheel gets oiled, I say email and worst case it will be ignored, best case you get it sooner.

    Question: Do you think the disc can be ripped and put on a USB thumb drive rather than lugging around an oppo to each calibration?

    Hi Gregg,

    Just had an inquiry from a consumer about purchasing one of these discs. Does THX sell them to the general public or not? What reply should I give him?

    By the way – this reminds me I never received one of these, should I not be expecting one anymore?

    They are supposed to be available for sale from the on line store … eventually. But for now no one gets them except for those that have been through training.

    Vince, glad you got yours…(and that they are finally shipping).
    Between the HT and Video classes, THX has trained more than 6000 people…that means 6000 mailings (the logistics of mailing to that many people in a cost effective manor must be enormous).

    one consideration (that you may not be aware of)…if these discs get sold then there is a huge amount of extra layers of copyright legal stuff to deal with. If they are given out as promotional items then is a much easier to do.

    I am sure that you all want some good content on the discs (in addition to test patterns), then the above becomes a big issue that needs to be dealt with.
