InactiveDoes anyone know when the VT30 firmware update will be released that enables IP control for CalMan?

InactiveHey Tyler,
You can check the CalMan forum and look at the thread regarding v4.2.2 (beta). The release notes say “Added support for new US Panasonic VT/DT/D models. Note: CalMAN requires Panasonic firmware 2.034 or greater, which is not yet available to the public.”May 18, 2011 at 9:37 pm #2073Anonymous

I can confirm what Vince said, Tyler. I calibrated one yesterday. It had firmware 2010 on it and I was unable to use IP control through CalMAN. 🙁

InactiveBy the way, I forgot to ask…for those of you who have calibrated these sets in Custom mode, did you find the gamma to be way out of whack? The gamma curves I got in custom were pretty horrendous and I couldn’t seem to fix it with the 10-point gamma controls (or anything else), but the picture with reference material looked outstanding. I’ve heard that Panasonic is going to fix this as well in a future firmware update.

InactiveI calibrated a VT30 last night. I utilized ControlCal v2.0 and the set had the latest firmware. ControlCal works great on this set!
I calibrated the THX mode through the available user and service menu controls. Color performance was a bit disappointing with color points less accurate than the previous VT25, along with color decoder errors.
I was able to make the ISF modes as accurate as I wanted with the 10 pt. gamma, 10 pt. white balance and fully functional CMS adjustments controls.
I highly recommend ControlCal for calibrating these sets.June 24, 2011 at 8:35 pm #2122Gregg Loewen

Thanks

InactiveI think you may have misunderstood me, the mini phono plug to female DB9 adapter is what Panasonic’s own adapter is, the actual serial port on the VT30 is a 3.5mm (1/8″ mini stereo) phono jack…
I do have info for an extension for Panasonic’s own Adapter which I recommend, I email that info to those who License ControlCAL and want to go serial vs network.
The North American VT30’s ship with Panasonic’s Adapter. I can email the pinout.
I can take a picture of the Panasonic VT30 Adapter and email it to you.
EDIT: I posted the pinout HERE

InactiveThanks, Lee. Glad to hear the firmware update corrected some of the problems we found before. Did you attempt to use a wireless connection to the VT30? I was wondering if that was fixed by the firmware update as well.
Thanks again for the report!
Best,

InactiveFor the RS-232 connection I used the 9-pin to 1/8″ stereo mini adapter cable that is included with all North American sets. I highly recommend picking up a male to female 1/8″ stereo mini extension cable because the included adapter cable is only a few inches long. Radio Shack carries an 8ft. cable for $7.00.

InactiveThanks again, Lee. I’ll have to look around – think I have one of those cables somewhere! 🙂

InactiveI see firmware v2.060 is available. Any one used calman on the vt30? Is it correct that with calman, you would use a cat5 cable to connect? Or a RS232 straight cable?
