Start in THX Mode for a reference image.

The advanced gamma in the VT30 is messed up … best to leave it at default position. It really messes with fleshtones … this is even on the latest FW.

Use THX mode as the reference mode and custom/isf as your day mode. (as mentioned by Gregg)

to get it to connect via IP, i need to access the PRO settings menu item, can’t do that in THX
so, do you mean, activate the IP connection & then use the user menu to select THX & then activate/calibrate the ISF modes?

Not meaning to speak for Gregg or Michael, but what was meant is to calibrate THX mode first, in the service menu, just like on older/lower Panasonic plasma models. It will be just a 2 point white balance + user menu adjustment. Then connect via IP or serial and calibrate ISF Day if you really feel the need to tackle that. The ISF modes are tricky, tricky, tricky. But I do like them now that I’ve done a lot of them and refined my technique.
BTW, did you see the custom workflow I made for the VT30’s ISF modes? It’s not perfect, but it can help you get better results. I made an original one and then an updated one for FW 2.1. It can be downloaded in CalMAN’s forum.
