Keymasteralso consider cleaning the light path and mirror on the RPTV units.
the RPTV crt stuff is an entirely different animal. electro static and mechanical focus, glare screen removal, convergence work, and then the grayscale work.

KeymasterThe entry level (ie B450 and B550 series) plasma sets do not have CMS, blue-only or Cal-Night/Day controls this year. The same may be true of the 550 series and lower LCDs, I’m not sure. The 6 series and higher (all display types) do have these controls.
To calibrate the entry level stuff, you’ll want to use the WB Movie menu that’s in the Factory menu (not the service menu).

Mute mute enter zero enter, any scan rate on any input, RGB is separate EXIT SAVESGive the above a try. I dont think they have cuts and drives…only RGBs.
Good luckGregg Loewen
Keymasterwow!! Well you made the learning curve…the next one will be half the time.
I saw you called me (caller ID) and I called you back….I got a “young” voice that told me to call back when you were home.Gregg Loewen
Keymasteryou have to do page 2 prior to page 1 ?? Page 2 has the Color space option.
you will be in for a world of pain if attempt to adjust the 9 point gamma adjustments.
The CMS controls are basically hue controls. You will not get the primaries perfect. All of them will only be moved 1-3 clicks for maximal improvement. Please note that if you move them too far (ie: green) you will start to affect your gray scale.
I would calibrate the Pure mode first (and get familar with the controls), then do the ISF day and night modes. the settings of each mode should be very close to being the same.

Keymasterhi guys
here is some more info.
you can improve the color gamut…be aware that there will be interaction between the SM stuff and the user menu stuff.
have fun!! 😉enter the service menu by pressing menu, 2, 4, 5, 7 wait a sec then press 0 all on the remote. Press enter on the option to restore geometry to factory or from backup i dont remember exactly what it says. Then press enter on the option to adjust geometry. When you are in the geometry adjustment screen dont do anything except press enter. You are now in 1:1 mode. Exit out and you are all set.

KeymasterQuote:The color error is -18 on red and -12 on blue (80 IRE) and a little closer to 0 at (30 IRE).
If I use the color tint to shift from green to red in order to equalize the error in each color, and then add color saturation to get the grayscale error closer to 0, will this be a viable calibration option and will I still be able to submit this calibration even if the error is >3 ????
Set dynamic range
Set gray scale
Set color and tint
Set sharpness
Verify against known source material. What are you talking about color tint shift to equalize error?
What is the most important part of the gray scale to set correctly ? Why?
What is the least important part of the gray scale to set correctly? Why?
What is the canvas comprised of? what is the color comprised of? What settings apply to each ?
Is there interaction between the canvas and the color (Y and C)?Getter dun!!
BTW, I have emailed JVC to ask them about this panel. Stay tuned.

Keymasterhi Thomas
No idea on this one…hopefully somebody else can chime in.
99% of the time…if there are no CMS controls in the user menu…then are arent any anywhere else.Gregg Loewen
Keymasterive never worked on either…sorry
try to work on both and see how they measure up ??Gregg Loewen
Keymasterok
try the traditional SM access methods then
(ie : vol down, ch down, and plug in….or whatever).
you will probably need to get a service manual to decifier the values / parameters.Gregg Loewen
Keymasterhmm…how old ?
If prior to 1994 ish, it may not even have a SM.
let me look around -
