KeymasterYou can get the image to look right in Custom and ISFccc by by lowering the Color Control and adjusting the CMS. In THX, Panasonic has the Color preset/offset already lowered along with what they are doing with the Panel Brightness preset
Shawn, this not not close to the same thing.
Gregg,
Even using controlcal?
Yes, or CalMan for that matter.

KeymasterHi Martin, I have also responded to your email.
Set 100% by the RGB gains, select gamma 2.6 with custom gamma. Then get the rest of the gray scale to d65 by using the rgb gamma controls. Also use the White gamma control to pull the rest of the gamma curve to 2.35.
Remember to keep rechecking 100% and adjusting the RGB gains to keep at D65.

Keymasterhi J
did you CC me ?
please resend to both.
thanksGregg Loewen
Keymasterhi Tony
I “think” the grayscale is global, not sure, you will have to check.
there is no gamma or CMS adjustments (historically most displays do not have gamma or cms adjustments), just start with the correct / closest mode.Gregg Loewen
Keymasteryes, use the THX 3D mode and adjust the contrast and brightness controls.

KeymasterThe color will look very bad / wrong when using custom or ISF modes. Do not use either mode when performing a reference calibration. THX Mode looks very nice once the gray scale is adjusted.

Keymasternothing wrong…basically it is how all the JVCs work since the RS-2 PJ. dont use the offsets.
Use the gain controls to nail 100% stimulus (after ensuring that you are not clipping), then use the gamma controls to smooth the gray scale.

KeymasterI did one last week, works the same way.

Keymasterhi Julian
please email training@thx.com and see what they come up with.
please post back here.Gregg Loewen
Keymasterignore the offsets and use the gamma controls to adjust the dark side of the gray scale and also the gamma.

Keymasterthen calibrate the displays in your own stores.
Run the demo disc on a loop in your own stores.
Put up some THX posters. Get some THX Calibrated plaques and set them on display by the cash register.

Keymasterawesome to hear.
thanks Lee!!Gregg Loewen
Keymasterhi Julian
what you are seeing is a problem with your TV and not your Sencore (IMO).
the TV is thinking it is a PC connection. There should be a setting onthe display to change the video range from full to limited which will force it into video levels and then give you access to all the controls. Not sure on the SCART ?
Gregg Loewen
Keymasterthat would work fine.

Keymasterone consideration (that you may not be aware of)…if these discs get sold then there is a huge amount of extra layers of copyright legal stuff to deal with. If they are given out as promotional items then is a much easier to do.
I am sure that you all want some good content on the discs (in addition to test patterns), then the above becomes a big issue that needs to be dealt with.
