KeymasterIt was in post 45 of this thread:
[THIS UPDATE IS FOR NORTH AMERICAN MODELS ONLY]Apparently, Panasonic did post (11/11/2011) firmware v2.10 for the VT30’s (and GT30’s) after the VE Shootout… basically the same firmware that was used on the VT30 in that shootout (with a few additional changes for Color luminance issues when using Panel Brightness Medium). IMO, they sure didn’t do a good job letting the installers know.
It’s labeled ‘For professional installer only‘.
You will probably find that it has improved a bit when using Panel Brightness Medium.. perhaps a Color Setting of around 44-48 vs ~36… this update does nothing for color decoding.
You must install it via SD or USB thumbdrive.

Who knows if there will be another version available via this ‘For professional installer only‘ area.. As usual, don’t expect (IMO) decoding to get fixed in the Panasonics this year.
BTW, if you network update to v2.2 (or future network updates), the LSI updates this special v2.1 version makes will not be changed….

Keymasterhi Marcus.
I believe that info is already on our site.
Let me look for it and post a link or repost here. (the info was given to me from Turbe).Gregg

Keymasternot sure. email jpeterson@lumagen.com

KeymasterPR is the industry standard. Im sure they would be okay with a cs200 or a JETI. An i1pro would not be acceptable to a true post house / facility.

Keymasterhi Chad.
they typically take both (and VGA too).
With SDI, I use a Quantum Data 701A, to set basic levels, then switch over to my QD 780 or Accupel 5000 and HDMI. First thing I do is ensure that SDI matches HDMI. Sometimes you can calibrate 1 input with HDMI then copy them over to the SDI input. ALWAYS VERIFY that you are decoding correctly, RGB, vs 422, (with correct black levels).THXvideotech sells the Quantum Data 701A. Email sales@thxvideotech.com if youd like a price quote.

Keymasterthanks!

KeymasterUsually / typically they will also have “client” monitors which are VT30s etc. I start with working on the client monitors, which should be extremely straight forward. Plug in a signal generator and calibrate to rec 709 in 422.
For the “reference” monitors, ( I use this term very loosely), they typically have 709 / DCI gamut selection, then gamma choice, and white balance controls (in addition to contrast and black level controls).
There is a great ability to screw this stuff up. The client often has non real expectations and they consider themselves “color experts” but are very often times lacking in expertise. They want all the monitors to look identical and this is impossible.
Get all the delta E values as close to perfect as you can, ensure that the light output of each monitor is also the same.

Keymastermanufacturers have been claiming this for years!!

Keymasternot sure.
I will ask that Epson surf by and add it to this site.
Also, the convergence will change a lot if mounted upside down. ( I am told this is by design).
Gregg Loewen
Keymastermulti point convergence works very well. You need to do the firmware update to make it work correctly.

KeymasterI sold mine off about 3 years ago. I was way past tired of the lack of light output, geometry issues, and color uniformity issues.

KeymasterHere is the software ( I think) for ISF modes.
Gregg Loewen
KeymasterIt would be nice to have the ISF software added here too. (for these models).

Keymasterhi Vince
I worked on my first one during a Post House calibration visit, then I talked to Sony directly about getting one. Retail is $6K. This is a HD-SDI monitor with selectable color gamut, gamma presets, etc. All you have to do is set the the white point. I will be carrying this monitor around with me (with a custom case) to show true reference vs consumer / pro calibrated reference.
