hi guys
I did a 600 this week…I got 29 fL on a 10 foot ish 16×9 1.0 gain screen……it is a frkn light cannon. the customer was quite happy.
It was replacing a 95 which was at 17 fL.

Reminds me of the screen protectors that people used with the old crt RPTVs. (I built one for my self).
Not a bad idea, if he is concerned…on a soft screen surface (LCD), a cat could severely damage it…not so much with a glass screen.
Heat build up could be an issue with a plasma….perhaps having it 1-2 cm out from the screen to allow for air flow.

this is the same chip as in the DUO….it will not allow for 3D processing, only 3D pass through.

Here is the response from Japan / Sharp.

It is impossible to calibrate the THX mode other than change the default setting of UI.
We understand that “THX mode” is “out of box” best tuned mode, so we “don’t” provide any special calibration procedure to it.

This is pretty typical from a manufacturer, many of the engineers do not know how to calibrate their own displays when not directly connecting via a host PC and using proprietary software (and binary code).

If like previous sharp panels, all the controls will be available in the THX mode (or just go to user 1 and calibrate in that mode).

Please let us know what controls the panel allows you to manipulate.

ISF is a different software than THX.

hi Michael. It is not normal to have only 1 white box with the THX pattern. Try it via the BD disc and see if you get the same result.

On early QD780 firmware / THX pattern combos, the whiter than white on the THX did not show up…but this was fixed. Verify with the THX Calibrator Disc.

Also, on the Samsung plasmas (8000 series), I am using a contrast setting of 95…which allows the 10 point WB controls to align nicely with the % of white increments.

Ive found the same. I go with a 2.2 gamma preset and use normal windows from my Quantum data.
