I did a 70″ on Friday. I used the 2 point gray scale and then did CMS. I did not touch the red CMS controls. It looked very good when I was finished, perhaps just a touch too much magenta in the flesh tones but I was happy (and so was the client).Gregg Loewen
Keymasterthe gamma bump on 90-100% is showing that the contrast is too high.
This display does have issues (others have reported them too). Waiting on Sharp for a firmware update/
Anybody else with suggestions ?

Keymasterhi Jon!
Bright scenes generally look great but whenever there is a really dark scene there is an unbearable amount of noise in the image. Could this be a dynamic range issue?
This sounds like the black level isnt set correctly.

Keymasterget the light output to match, get the 2 closest edges of the displays to match.
Remember that if you are working with front projectors and screens with gain you, if you have 2 different viewing angles, you will see different results. Same goes for LCD panels relating to viewing angles.

Nice Skyping with you.
I am not sure what is going on. Perhaps the display is reading RGB vs 422.
Try measuring off of a DVD and see if you get the same results.Gregg Loewen

2 pt WB and no CMS were typical controls for a TV of that vintage.Gregg Loewen

which pioneer? On the elites, use Color Space 2, (while setting the gray scale) and you will be on Rec 709Also make sure the pioneer correctly selects the 422 color space (in auto mode it may not). I am guessing that is your problem, or depending on Pioneer model, when you change sources, the pioneer is using different values in the user menu.

Keymasterhi guys
I did a podcast yesterday with the AVforum guys where tey were absolutely raving about the Panny. Good stuff to hear. Also keep an eye out for the new Epson which will have limited release by Christmas. It looked amazing at CEDIA. I have not seen the new JVC, Panny, or Sony offerings to compare.Gregg Loewen
Keymasterawesome.
Thanks for the update Tom!! -
